I’m Mati Hare—owner of 940 Pizza Co., small-town chef, and lifelong lover of good food shared with good people.

I grew up in Albany, Texas, where community means everything and great meals bring folks together. After graduating from Albany High School, I followed my passion for cooking to earn an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts. That journey took me to Austin, where I worked in the banquet kitchen of the JW Marriott, a 4-star hotel known for high standards and fast-paced service. There, I honed my skills and learned what it takes to deliver quality at scale.

But no matter where I went, my heart always stayed close to home.

My family has deep roots in the service industry—we’ve owned and operated the Icehouse Restaurant in Albany since 1993. I grew up learning the power of hospitality, hard work, and what it means to serve your neighbors with pride. 940 Pizza Co. is a continuation of that legacy: a place where the food is bold, the welcome is warm, and every meal is made with heart.
